Let's be honest both these games have been brutal and someone/something needs to be blamed.
I see a lot of people suggesting its Hynes and his system. I also see some people suggesting the team needs time to build chemistry and that Hynes is not the one making bad plays and mistakes.
In my opinion and I am not an expert on hockey and strategies, its a mix of both. From what I see all Coach Hynes does is have his players dump and chase and use their speed. It works with limited success like that Subban flip to Coleman yesterday or with Wood in 2017-2018, a majority of his goals were dumps across the ice and he just used his speed to pass defenders. Eventually, the tactic becomes stale and easy to counter. Couple times I've noticed he doesn't change anything up, one game I went to last year (3/8/19) against the Capitals we were down 0-3 and its the 3rd period and he continued to dump and chase even though it was not working and the Caps would just keep possession. That being said, I also don't think it's on Hynes that we cannot clear the neutral zone for our lives. I think a recurring trend I've seen from last year and in the 1st period from today's game is that we cannot go passed the neutral zone we just turn it over.
So I don't know, are we implementing the dump and chase strategy because the players cannot clear the neutral zone for their lives or Hynes doesn't know how to coach the neutral zone?
I hear a lot about his "system" being garbage but like I said I don't know much about strategies and what he even does. From what I see its just dump and chase and random line changes when we are up but not when we are down. If someone could explain to me what his system is and all the details that would be great.
P.S. Can he tell Wood to tighten his helmet, I see plenty of other players fall and not lose their bucket. Especially now with the rule change.
