My 3/18 drop that shipping out of Chino, CA arrived today. Not only did my warehouse picker use a box that could have fit four PS5 consoles in it, no packing material was used at all (no crumpled wrap, no airpack, no bubble, etc). On top of that, the water activated tape _completely_ missed the one of the box flaps - the box was wide open.
The PS5 packaging itself is beat up to no surprise, but I am lucky enough that everything inside the PS5 box is fine. I've heard the stories and seen the unpacking videos of consoles themselves arriving cracked. To be honest, given the wide open box flap, I'm surprised the console was even still in the shipping box. These guys may as well have done what the worst of Amazon pickers sometimes does with Legos: e.g. slap a shipping label straight on the item and not even box it.
Your vote: An attempt to protect the console was made.
