Hi Everyone,
Recently, we've had a few different posts of artists promoting their work and with character illustrations and similar. Some people really enjoy some posts, while others are reported for spam. So I wanted to get your opinion on what should and shouldn't be permitted with these and similar posts!
What type of promotional posts would you like to see, if any? Character art, miniatures, mapping tools, online note organizers are some off the top of my head. Obviously stuff that can't work for Dungeon World will be removed, but what about stuff that is aimed at DND but also seamlessly works with Dungeon World?
What should be required in such a post? Often community engagement is mentioned, what does an engaging post look like to you?
Should these be text posts only?
What are your thoughts? If you're on new reddit you'll also see a poll. Both the poll and comments will be used to inform how we want to handle this going forward.
Here are some example promotional posts, which vary wildly.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonWorld/comments/lptjk4/gm_inspirations_liktena_coins_all_that_is_gold/ - The design of the Liktena Coins image is consistent with DND 5e books, but the coins themselves fit perfectly within dungeon world. The creator has a patreon and is posting his creations in many subreddits, but this post also has many upvotes and was never reported as spam here.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonWorld/comments/ltx2iy/oc_sheera_elf_mage_hello_everyone_im_open_for_new/ - an artist promoting his work here, alongside a comment. He received many upvotes and a few positive comments.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonWorld/comments/lw9tdv/hello_fellow_gamers_as_a_veterean_ttrgp_gamer_im/ - another artist promoting their work, but (as of me posting this) it has received few upvotes and two spam reports.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonWorld/comments/lv8qgo/stonetop_kickstarter_is_live/ - Jeremy Strandberg is great and I have no issue allowing it, but it also does technically fall under a promotional post (as does other similar ones like my own Chasing Adventure posts). As I said, promotional posts can be great!
Your vote: I don't want to see promotions that have been reposted on many other rpg subreddits
