I am curious to get this sub's honest opinion on the supposed "HASSrarri" conspirary theory without the risk of being downvoted or harassed if someone thinks it might be true.
Background in case you somehow frequent /r/formula1 and are unaware: Yesterday at the Australian GP Ferrari left Vettel out a very long time in hopes they would get lucky with a safety car. The HAAS cars came in to pit about the time that Vettel was going to have to come in if he wanted to hold on to third. BOTH cars left the pits with a "loose wheel" and retired the cars at less-than-ideal locations on the track. The first car was able to be recovered without a safety car. The second car was retired in a spot that required a crane to retrieve it. This caused a virtual safety car and then a full safety car which allowed Vettel to pit, maintain the lead, and eventually win the race. I believe it can be universally agreed that Vettel would not have won the race if this didn't happen. HAAS is a customer of Ferrari and has a close working relationship with them. This year HAAS showed up with what seems to be a clone of the 2017 Ferrari and have jumped half of the field in performance in the course of a few months. Ferrari has race manipulation in their history, as do most teams to be honest.
