My landlord tried to raise my rent in April during the peak of COVID-19 by putting a lease renewal in the mail. He wanted to increase rent by 4.99% so that he doesn't need to give me 90 days notice. I was furious and decided to move out of Manhattan altogether end of May. I was searching online and saw that he now tried to rent out the place at $2700 (which is $325) more than what I am paying for. Does anyone experience the same? I am wondering if any of you would start a movement #MOOFM (move out of fucking manhattan). If enough people do it, then the rent is going to be depressed and these greedy landlords would have a rude awakening.
