As part of the new year effort to energize this reddit, by popular demand, we are going to take a stab at a reading group. Here's how it will work. Between now and Friday, January 8, this poll will remain open and anyone can vote for which Žižek book we should read. If you vote for something, I take this as meaning that you would actually read it and participate in the discussion threads if it wins. After the poll closes, we'll break the book up (probably by chapters) and read it with weekly discussion threads posted every Friday. I know some of you have strong opinions on which book we should start with, so feel free to debate this in the comments.
Personally, I don't think there's any magic to starting with his earlier works, since he gratuitously copies, pastes, and edits his own favorite passages in newer books. As for whether to read one of his heavier tomes or one of his fluff pieces, I'm not sure. We could benefit from working together to tackle one of his harder works, but his lighter stuff may prove more accessible to newbies and more likely to keep people engaged. Either way, count me in.
