I've seen many students complain about the excessive Gen Ed's required for their degrees. I've also seen some improper financial behaviors exhibited by students (ie leveraged purchases, misinformed perceptions about credit cards, not tracking their monthly spending). Many students who I talk with say they never have taken a personal finance course in high school and the only students who are required to take one at OSU are students in the Dept of Education. Surprises me Fisher students aren't required to take one (they expect to manage corporations but aren't given tools to manage their own money?)
What if we replace one of the Gen Ed categories with a mandatory personal finance course that all students must take. Maybe one of the Arts/Humanities sections or the Social Diversity section. I'm curious to see opinions on this question/possible proposal if there is serious interest
