My lawfirm says it is ok for me to skip work for 2 days so that another firm that needs help can borrow me for the day
I go to the other firm and am asked to perform several tasks related to a case where an insurer is being sued to provide coverage for asbestos related claims.
I go with others to a storage facility containing old corporate records that were not disposed of because no one knew they were there and that saved them form the normal destruction schedule. They might be needed one day. While reading documents of correspondence between insurance agents and the company I find a document where the insurance agents says that the underwriters got back to him and that Asbestosis claims will be covered. While it doesn't address all claims it does cover Asbestosis so at minimum provides evidence that the policy covers such claims. I find nothing else useful and after 2 days all the documents have been reviewed so I am no longer needed. They just needed extra help to get through the documents they newly discovered in an old facility.
I was not working for my employer at the time I was working for someone else under their supervision and doing what they wanted. Did my actions nonetheless amount to actions of my law firm? Did my actions render my law firm one of the firms working on the case and having some control over the case?
Manitowoc agreed that Calumet could utilize firemen and police etc from Manitowoc when they wanted so long as they are supervised by Calumet, Manitowoc would not be responsible for administrative control of anyone they wanted to have loaned to them.
Firemen on loan are told to use the jaws of life to open up the various crushed vehicles to help look for evidence. Are any actions they take actions of behalf of Manitowoc County? Does their role mean that Manitowoc fire departments they came from are playing a role in the investigation just because firemen were allowed to be loaned? Their superiors are not ordering them around and don't even know what they are doing because they are receiving their orders from Calumet. Does this somehow amount to the department they belong to playing a role in the investigation or having some level of control in it?
Your vote: By loaning you out your lawfirm was officially involved in the case
