Hey guys I wanted to conduct this survey regarding tracking vox. A lot of artists use fx to alter the texture and tonality of their voice and the stage in which the fx are brought forth can influence the performance. Please select your method and please explain your reasoning behind your choice. I have the artist run through a few warm up takes with FX enabled and then run through a few final takes dry. I do it like this in order to avoid latency caused by any inserts and to be able to treat the vocal from the ground up. I use the takes with the FX as guidelines for how to treat the final takes along with using them as bg vox or foley.
