Just a small note: I initially planned to add the books from last month that had plenty of votes, but were not chosen as a winner - however, there were so many suggestions this month, that I thought those are enough for now. I still have a draft for all the books, so I will just add them to future voting lists when there are less suggestions. Refusing to believe anything scandalous about her, Gilbert befriends her and discovers her past. SCUM Manifesto is a radical feminist manifesto by Valerie Solanas, published in 1967. It argues that men have ruined the world, and that it is up to women to fix it. To achieve this goal, it suggests the formation of SCUM, an organization dedicated to overthrowing society and eliminating the male sex. The *Manifesto* has often been described as a satire or parody, especially due to its parallels with Freud's theory of femininity. The *Manifesto* was little-known until Solanas attempted to kill Andy Warhol in 1968. This event brought significant public attention to the *Manifesto* and Solanas herself. The second sex Revolutionary and incendiary, *The Second Sex* is one of the earliest attempts to confront human history from a feminist perspective. It won de Beauvoir many admirers and just as many detractors. Today, many regard this massive and meticulously researched masterwork as not only as pillar of feminist thought but of twentieth-century philosophy in general. King Kong theory With humor, rage, and confessional detail, Virginie Despentes--in her own words "more King Kong than Kate Moss"--delivers a highly charged account of women's lives today. She explodes common attitudes about sex and gender, and shows how modern beauty myths are ripe for rebelling against. Using her own experiences of rape, prostitution, and working in the porn industry as a jumping-off point, she creates a new space for all those who can't or won't obey the rules. Brave Rose McGowan was born in one cult and came of age in another, more visible cult: Hollywood.
