I work with the *Access to Information and Privacy* laws and something came up in discussions that brought a question to my mind about computer thieves. For example: Let's say a thief breaks in and steals your computer, you had done one of the two following options. Which one would it be? 1. Encryption - The thief cannot load up your computer, your data is secure, but no application can load, so you cannot track your computer. 2. No encryption - The thief can log into the guest account and might manage to find your documents, however since the computer is booted up, you have the ability to track it and find it. Which do you value more? The protection of your documents, or the ability to track the thief and potentially get your computer back? I'm using a redditpoll, but I'll be looking at comments too. p.s.: I am aware there are ways to do both, but I am curious about priorities. Thanks in advance!
