Hi Whichbike community,
Another noob question. I have tried my best to make the poll specific rather than a broad high level question.
I have narrowed my search to those 2 below and really cannot decide which one I should buy for my occasional daily commute (~10 km each way) and weekend rides (the price difference is only $50 AUD - ~$35 USD, so the price is not governing factor at all).
I have done all my homework and physically visited the 2 stores selling these bikes, so I tried them both. Of course, both salesmen told me that their bike is a better choice.
Option 1. Reid cycles Urban X2 (~$550 AUD = $385 USD)

Option 2. Merida Crossway MD-15 (~$600 AUD = ~$420 USD).

The main difference is that the X2 comes with hydraulic brakes but with rigid fork (I was told by my co-worker that it is not good for relatively long distances). The Merida comes with mechanical brakes but with spring fork.
Please help the newbie, that is my first proper bike, all my bikes before have been from department stores.
I have nearly exploded my head choosing between those 2.
thank you.
