**Congratulations to Oculus** - it seems like they have indeed learned from the Rift launch - there are lots of Oculus Touchs either on the way or available in (online) stores and a nice collection of Oculus Touch ready games are available at the store. So, they got the production and logistics right. At this point it does not seem likely to expect backlogs or delays similar to the Rift launch.
That being said, one of the big issues during the Rift launch still remains an issue today: "communication".
Many people here in r/oculus are long time Kickstarter/DK1/DK2 fans with pre-orders. The wording
> Your prior Rift preorder qualifies you to have a preferred place-in-line for your Touch preorder!
suggests that there actually is some form of queue and you are (somewhat) in the front.
For some this turned out just fine - delivery of the Touch on the 6th or even on the 5th - exceeding the expectations. But for those with Oculus pre-orders that haven't been processed yet it is very disappointing. They either have to wait longer or cancel their pre-orders, losing the free game bundle. Not only are there multiple queues now, they also feel to be in the slowest one.
It probably boils down to managing expectations. Oculus raised the expectation to have better logistics than during the Rift launch. Yay that worked. They also promised estimated shipping Dec 06 - Dec 15 Yay, that probably will also work. But they also promised a "preferred place-in-line" - and only some got it. **If you can walk into a retail store and buy the product of the shelf, the "pre-order timeframe" is definitely over.**
How would you rate the Oculus Touch launch?
