Hi everyone! So basically im hosting a rerun of our poll, for two reasons. One, we have decided that it is better to think about writing method instead of plot structure first. Two, the poll choices in the previous poll were ambiguous, and some people had a disagreement on what one of the choices meant.
There was a discussion about this in the thread called Can Someone Please Explain.
I know that many writers, including me, cannot work with certain writing methods, and that if you do not get the result you desire from the poll, then you are welcome to create a thread in the subreddit to create a new collab with the people who voted the same option as you.
If this comes down to a showdown between two popular writing methods, then dont be discouraged, because you can make a new collab with your desired writing method :)
If you have any new ideas, suggestions, complaints, or would like to persuade people into why voting a certain option is best, then please start the discussion by commenting below. Keep all discussion civil. Thank you :)
OK! Now for the choices.
#1. The Roleplay
This writing method is extremely similar to your classic forum roleplay. Each writer makes their own character to insert into the story. When writing begins, a queue will be made to decide who writes and in what order.
When it is your turn to write in the queue, you will write the continuation of the story, but only using your character.
The ultimate rule here is to only write using your own character. In some cases you may ask to use another persons character.
Everyones continuations will be put together in the end to make the complete stiry.
If someone does not write in a timely manner when it is their turn on the queue, a rule will be put in place to either remove the person or have someone take their place on the queue.
But here, the most important detail is that each writer makes a character and writes their own sections individually, which are then weaved together to craft a coherent story.
#2. The Pyramid Structure
/u/vafle created this, so i apologize if i get a detail wrong. Also, ipads do not allow me to copy and paste reddit comments.
I will try to explain best as i can.
This is the midway point between the roleplay and full collaboration. Everyone makes their own character, and writes only their own character. At the start of writing, everyone makes a short story with a scenario of just their character in a shared universe.
Then, writers pair up. They then make a scenario with both their characters together in the story; so at some point they meet up.
After that, the two man teams pair up again, forming groups of four. A new story is written where the pairs meet up and interact.
And so on until the entire cast of characters has met up, and the story continues all to the end with everyone interacting together.
#3. Full Collaboration
Formerly called Ordinary Story, the full collaboration is the polar opposite of the Roleplay.
Everyone can write, whenever they want. Just whenever you feel like it, add onto the end of the story. Or edit, or help develop some characters in a separate character folder.
There will be no penalty for not writing as much as anyone else. Write as much as you want.
Just like with all the methods, a complete beginning to end outline will be created before we start writing so we have no disputes as to what happens where and when.
Anyone may write any character they want. To avoid issues with personalities of characters, a single "character editor" may check up on what everyone else has written and just make sure the dialogue and actions fit the personality of the character. Additionally, a community-created character folder will serve as a collection for everything to know about a certain character.
All characters will be a community creation. Once the story idea has been decided on, we will probably know all the characters we will need when we are halfway done with the outline.
Then, several threads in the subreddit will describe what characters are to be needed. For example "the main character, who is a baker and has a little brother." By now everyone should be up to date what is going on in the story outline, so they can submit ideas for character personalities and details and the community will decide which is best for the story.
The main rule in this method is that nothing in the collaboration belongs to you. Everything is a product of the group, and anyone may help with anything. In other methods, there would be rules set in pace to prevent other writers infringing on anothers characters or their work, but no such rules will be in place here.

Okay everyone! Voting will end on WEDNESDAY, 6:00 PM and the votes will be tallied , or sooner if we get 14 votes before then.
Thank you and have a very nice day!
