There seems to be sudden renewed interest in the greatest cause of cancer on Auraxis so I thought I'd let the community show how they feel about redeployside. Here's some options on what can be changed about redeploying in an attempt to balance it:
Option 1. Nothing. Leave Redeployside 2 as is.
Option 2. Base tethering. You can only move one base away from the last base you died/redeployed at. You can spawn on sunderers one base over as long as they're in the adjacent base's region hex. Warpgate recall still exist no matter how far away you are from the Warpgate but you can only redeploy one base away at a time even from the Warpgate. Bases that have been surrounded and cut off from supply lines cannot be redeployed into. You'll have to fly/drive in. Instant action still exists.
Option 3. Remove galaxy squad logistics, make it exclusive to the Valkyrie/Sunderer. For now assume you can spawn regardless of distance.
Option 4. Remove redeploying at SL/PL's location for squad members. If two platoons are working together it's far too easy for them to get their 8 squad leaders to redeploy to a reinforcements needed base and then have the other 88 guys redeploy on them. Squad beacons will still work across the map.
Some cons of my own suggestions:
Options 2 and 3 really only work when they are both enforced. While it would really help more tactically minded squads and platoons actually capture bases without getting zerged/maxed crashed, I can see a lot of people getting mad at being restricted on the map and floundering pubbies not knowing how to get around.
Option 4 can actually still be worked around if the SL's are able to spawn at the base and put their beacons down. But a spawn camped base can still shut this down.
What do you guys think? Are these changes too drastic?
