Hi Guys.
I'm having a debate with a friend of mine about DBFZ being more offensive overall than Guilty Gear I am on the side of it being more offensive, while he's taking the stance that they are actually about the same.
My argument is that there are more options that cater to offense in DBFZ, like Super Dash and Vanish instantly ending neutral regardless of the success of the one who uses it and the way Ki blasts operate, and more options that cater to defense in Xrd like barrier guard, instant block, blowback, reject, and burst. There is also more reason to be in neutral and to not try to gain pressure advantage in Xrd for certain characters like Venom, as opposed to DBFZ where you will always take pressure if you can get to it.
My friends argument is that DBFZ has the same kind of approach as Guilty Gear just on a simpler level. He states that roman cancel gives similar kinds of pressure that assists provide in DBFZ and some characters can layer on just as much if not more offensive pressure in Xrd than in DBFZ, that reflect is just as strong as the varied defensive options in xrd due to the more simplified offensive layers of dbfz, and that super dash and vanish losing to 2H gives the game a similar neutral approach to Xrd despite their nature.
