Does an Ace or Albatross really count if you don't see it go in? For example, reddit golfer wasilvers hits a great drive somewhat behind a hill on a par 5. wasilvers goes over the hill to gauge distance from the hole, sees people still on the green, and realized his ball is about 300+ out from the green - no chance of hitting making it there - never in a million years. So they go back behind the hill, put an awesome strike on the ball, and realize it might have had a chance had they been 250 from the hole. Hole clears, go up to ball and realize that you cleared everything and ended up just behind the hole for near albatross. Had he been more lucky and the ball actually been in the hole, would wasilvers be able to claim an albatross, or would it forever be ans asterisk next to the story?
