In my D&D campaign, my players will be encountering a coven of vampires, and a pack of werewolves. My original idea was to have the players meet vamps or wolves chosen at random, and have them ask the players for help in destroying the other side. The gist of it would be that whoever the players side with, would help the players take down the other side in an epic "sabotage the war camps and fortress" style quest.
But then I developed another cool idea. What if all along, this cooperation between the players and whichever side they side with was a double cross and the BBEG orchestrated this entire quest-line to toy with the players and have them fight the vamp leader and wolf leader in an epic showdown trap.
I'm torn on this so I decided to bring this decision to reddit in the form of a poll.
What do you think would be more fun for my players...cooperating with one side to destroy the other in a sabotage quest, or being double crossed (showing that the BBEG is not just in the background the entire campaign, and is actively plotting against the players) and having to fight the vamps and wolves in an epic showdown?
